Early days
Three friends got together in 1976 and started a transport company in Johannesburg and it listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange as UNISERV in 1987.

Coincidentally, also in 1976, in the small town of Skuldelev in Denmark, ten owner-operated hauliers came together to form DSV (De Sammensluttede Vognmaend - the consolidated hauliers).

Both UNISERV and DSV grew rapidly, but their paths would not cross until many years later.

UNISERV acquired Union-Transport in 1993, which was at the time the 3rd biggest freight forwarder in Germany. Union-Transport was listed on the Luxembourg Stock Exchange in 1995. In 2000, the company was listed on NASDAQ, changed its name to UTi and continued to grow both in SA and globally.

UTi was acquired by DSV A/S in 2016, and the group is now the fifth largest global freight forwarding company in the world.

We have offices throughout sub-Saharan Africa, and they serve as gateways to other countries in Africa to meet their needs by Air, Sea or Road. Our African hub, centralized bond, or non-bonded warehouse can be set up to manage your distribution requirements.

Broad-based black economic empowerment (B-BBEE)
B-BBEE is a key part of the South African government-s legislative programme to economically empower black South Africans who were disadvantaged during the apartheid years.
