We are pleased to introduce ourselves. As you may be aware, Abbey Cross Lodge came under new ownership and management, as of September 1st, 2006. Chrizelle Brentot has bought the home, and is excited at the prospect of continued improving and bettering Abbey Cross Lodge.

We have a manager who lives in at Norhriding, and at Mountainview in Blackheath we have a manager from 7am -4pm.

While maintaining consistency and continuity for the residents, we have made better the existing environment. We implemented many more stimulating activities, and improved the grounds of the home We have encouraged residents to be more active and spend quality time outside.

There is an organic vegetable garden and large flower beds, where the residents can garden and enjoy the fresh air. There are also be several varieties of birds, such as chickens, guinea fowl and peacocks for the residents to feed and care for should they want to. There are horses and ponies, monkeys and parrots on the property.

We offer Aromatherapy, vibration massage , movement classes and Pilates free of charge to residents, and encourage mobility and health improvement through these activities. Pilates helps strengthen muscles, posture and alleviates pressure on the back. Brain gym is also encouraged. This encourages brain activity and visual strength and is especially good for those residents who are not able to move around. Many other activities like baking , ladies club, Bingo, and scripture reading is offered.

All staff have received up to date training on all aspects of care and the running of the home. They also perform manicures, footspas, pedicures and facials to residents.

Our aim is to enable the residents to enjoy their days and to not have the days be empty and long. We will promote expression and all this whilst ensuring the highest quality care.
