The name Samia is derived from a baby rhino that my friend and well known conservationist Anna Merz hand-raised for three years, before reintroducing her to the wild. Samia was deserted by her mother whom had insuficient milk to raise her. Anna founded Lewa Conservation Reservation and in doing so saved Kenya-s black rhino from extinction. She wrote the book -RHINO At the Brink of Extinction-. After reading that book, you will never see rhinos in quite the same light again.
